Part II: Veterans Benefits for Senior Housing and Long Term Care

Description:
This session will cover medical benefits and long term care benefits for those who served and their surviving spouses. Even one day of service matters and may open the door to a host of benefits that can assist in your long term care plan! Topics include service-connected disabilities, access to the VA medical center, home and community services through the VA, pensions for assisted living and memory care and eligibility for the MN Veterans’ Homes.

Part III: Affordable Housing Options (Hud, Section 8, etc.)

Description:
This session will cover senior living programs for independent senior housing settings, such as; Section 8 and HUD or Housing and Urban Development.  Other topics Sherry will be covering are programs for assisted level care such as Alternative Care Grant, Elderly Waiver and Medical Assistance for long Term Care.

Speaker Bios:

Mary Frances Price is a shareholder at Moss & Barnett. Mary Frances has been licensed to practice law since 2005 and has counseled and advised hundreds of clients on their estate and elder care plans. Mary Frances focuses her practice on serving individuals and families who are establishing an estate plan, revising one or dealing with the legal, medical and financial impacts of aging, chronic illness and disability. She has been accredited to practice before the Department of Veterans’ Affairs since 2008.

Sherry Eastgate is the Director of HUD Housing and Office Manager at Apple Valley Villa.  Sherry has worked at Apple Valley Villa since 1987 and was certified as an Assisted Housing Manager in 1993 and in 2012 she was certified as a HUD Subsidized Multifamily Housing Manager both through Quadel Consulting.  Sherry completed Certified Senior Advisory training through the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in 2010.  Since 1993 Sherry has managed the HUD program for the 72 HUD units at Apple Valley Villa assisting residents and their families obtain and maintain their HUD subsidy as well as working with their County Caseworkers to setup their services provided through AC/EW/CADI and MA.
